Janet Jackson Is Following The Latest Trend
Yes I said it! Another diva releases another best of, aka a number ones compilation. And it's probably a good thing since her last two albums were loose shreds on her velvet rope. This compilation includes her duets, her new single Make Me and single mixes. iTunes and Target have their own exlcusive remixes of her new single. It has been 14 years since her last best of, it's sad to say, but if you all ready have Design of a Decade, don't bother collecting this 2 disc set. To promote this best of she is opening the American Music Awards this Sunday with an 8 minute medly. I'm sure that like me, her other fans have been trying to use her as a MJJ substitue. Also, she is finally breaking her silence or continuing her comments from the BET Music Awards tomorrow night on ABC in a interview with Robin Roberts.P.S. The AMAs is also honoring us with another diva with Whitney Houston receivng an Internal Artist Award, cudos for her.Whitney Houston will be performing I didn't Know My Own Strength at the AMAs, I wish girlfriend would leave those ballads to the studio. Apparently she has something to prove; I can't wait to hear that weathered voice live!

Britney Spears Brings The Studio To The Stage
Believe it or not, Australian audiences thought they were buying tickets for a performer who can sing! They are upset that Britney has no live vocals for her Circus tour. Are they crazy!? Have they not purchased/listened to her previous albums - of course Britney cannot sing. If there is anyone who has f*cked for tracks and engineering wizards, it's her. In fact, they would be complaining more if she had sang. If I was at her show and she sang, I would demand my money back - I'd be like, "this doesn't sound like Britney, just dance to your cds, please!!!" They are so outraged that the Minister for Fair Trading wants the tickets to read pre-recorded performance. When in actuality the tickets should read: I [Britney] f*ck for tracks.

Undrcrwn Presents He's the King, I'm the Dj

This is hot! I love MJJ, and yet some how I've fallen back in love. I waited to write this post because I had to hear this collection, this masterful mix. Dj Jazzy Jeff has been working hard from Dj hero to He's the King, I'm the Dj, whose title is reminiscent of a Fresh Prince and Dj Jazzy Jeff album title. Click the pic to get this mixtape for free. Undercrwn is a clothing and footwear company, who have made MJJ paraphernalia out of threads and is promoting this Mixtape. My favorite mix at the moment is Man in the Mirror over the Whistle Song (which was probably the only good thing Juelz Santana ever touched, and it wasn't even one his production beats), it sounds like it couldn't work, but oh how it does, a new classic was born.

Jodeci to the H-Town

Shazaam! I don't why I thought this would be a good listen - to the balls of my feet to my ears, a ring of 'why H-Town,' resides in me. But they weren't the only ones who could've sat out this recording session. Jodeci's voices Jo and K, are now whisperers meant for behind the scenes. By the way, 'shazaam' is one of the lyrics of Knocking Heals Off. Please knock the radio over.Listen for yourself click song title.

I'm Rooting For Rack her up - Knock her down Rihanna

Here's what's up - Rihanna's new single Russian Roulette, which hits stores Nov 23, is accused of ignoring intellectual copyright of the cover photo of Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) compilation by Paul Heyman. First of all the barbed wire is distinct, she's wearing an eye-patch, is cigarette-less, her arm is straight up, and more of her torso is on display. To be frank, I don't see the same picture. In fact, I am going to help Rihanna's case right now. Here are several album covers that are not identical. R Kelly vs Diana Ross. Alicia Keys vs Leona Lewis. Diana Ross vs Beyonce. If Rhianna loses to Paul Heyman, I know some other celebrities who should cry intellectual copyright infringement!

DJ Hero to the rescue
There's not much to say but wow! I am not big into video games but I want this as soon as I can get. I mean this has the hottest artists from rock to pop to hip hop to r'n'b. There's over 100 artists featured here. There's also a deluxe addition that comes with Jay Z and Eminem cds. The joystick is a turntable, and the box that holds the turntable converts to a turntable stand. Everybody will be learning how to scratch and mix. All I can muster up is how hot is that. Timbaland's Shock Value II

Yes you can go to the store and pick up this hit-packed album Shock Value II. The single Morning After Dark features vocals from SoShy and was first heard on Ryan Seacrest's Website today. Although, I'm sure some DJ played it on the radio somewhere today. Either way before you rush to buy you might want to preview, so the song links to a chance to be one of the first to hear a talented producer's new release. All I can say is that FloRida sounds broke-ass in comparison to this track, which has a similar sound to what FloRida has been overdoing. Timbaland's own website has sorrily not been updated in the last year. This is somewhat acceptable, he's not the hardest working man in hip hop, but he did produce Shakira's latest single, Give It Up To Me, which premeired a day ago on Ryan Seacrest's website, and as previosly mentioned, Lil' Wayne is on it as well. Timbaland keeps creating new royalty checks. Also Timbaland's record label has a website that is worth a visit, you'll find SoShy and other artists lounging about.P.S. We all know that Lil' Wayne has more kids than his age, so what's the big fuss - did Nivea's publicist need to get paid?

"This Is It" has debuted at # 43!

Not too bad, I was shooting for an automatic top 40 debut but I knew deep down that his brothers would be holding him back. I mean really, no one wants to hear any other Jackson than Janet. Although, I am sure that many will watch all of them on the upcoming reality show.

God-Des & She Fundraiser

God-Des & She have a third album due this Oct/Nov, however, they could use some extra funds to receive the promotion that they deserve. God-Des & She should be household names: they sing and rap about issues that are socially conscious, fun, politically savvy, and about love. This is an opportunity for fans to have a personal concert of God-Des & She or even a phone call! This album has Chuck D's engineering and production from other members of Public Enemy. Wasting some more "ink"
I swear somebody gave someone semi-important a hand-job, because announcing the break up of A-ha is so unnecessary that I found it a day a late! The Rock Daily didn't consider it important, as it is not news on their homepage. Thanks to Side-line.com, I became hip to the most un-hip news eva. For crying out loud their last album Foot of The Mountain didn't even enter the Hot 100, their last charting was in 1988 at 148 for Billboard 200, need I say more. This band does prove the point I've made about the UK because 20 yrs after A-ha's last charting in the states, their final album was a top ten UK hit, but us Americans know how they cherish artists who are has-beens everywhere else in the free world. A-ha formed in 1982, had their biggest U.S. hit in 1985, and is performing their farewell tour in Oslo, Norway well over a year from now, on Dec 4 2010. They're so tired that they are announcing their departure a year before it happens - someone needs to sell tickets!

Jackson 5 Remix
MJJ and Jackson remixes are slated for release Oct 20th in stores, but can be purchased on various music sites. Here is a listen of Never Can Say Goodbye, remixed by the Neptunes. Let me know what you think about it. Personally I really am waiting for new material not just new to us material, or at least live music.
The Show is Back On, Sort of

T
elling of two tales for one post, in honor of the canceled Fame Kills Tour, which included two artists with signature styles, Lady Gaga and Mr Kanye West. The reason for the tour cancellation was never announced, however we can almost safely assume it was because Mr West spoke some truth on the '09 VMAs. Yes I said it! Mr West might have been intoxicated, but he was being the Yeezy we know and I love him for! In fact, Ms Swift should be thanking Mr West for giving her free, unlimited publicity, (was being on Oprah necessary, it's not like she was slapped, like Leona Lewis).Lady Gaga has now anounced her tour with Kid Cudi (it's like 2 degrees of seperation from Kanye West - Kid Cudi is currently on tour now), The Monster Ball covering North America and a re-release of her debut album which will be titled The Fame Monster. Which is really a whole new album because of 8 new tracks with production from Dr. Dre (who keeps delaying his Detox album). The Monster Ball kicks off in Montreal on Nov 27, while The Fame Monster will be released Nov23.
Another note concerning the show being back on: of course, we all know Yeezy is back to hip hop, (after a refreshingly bold change in style for him on his 808s & Heartbreak) - because we've been listening to the radio, so why is it that contactmusic.com has released an article today stating so, quoting Mr Hudson, a Mr West protege? In addition to our ears, this fact was previously posted in Jan '09 on www.hiphopdx.com.
P.S. Mr West denies being the King of Pop, however, I don't care if Mr West said it, he's known for his sensationalism!

The Battle of The Pop Blonds

Maybe I'm just an old ass queen, who has grown too accustomed to these pop divas - only one is a true Icon (Madonna, do I need to type it, really) - yet I feel they have tied this year. I think they were the only people aware of the battle, since they both released or will release singles collections this fall; Madonna's Celebration was released in Sept and Britney's Singles Collection will be released on Nov 24 (the same day Lil' Wayne and Jay Sean's albums will be released - I can't wait to see who tops the charts that day).Let's see the battles:
1. Madonna with the release of Celebration (which features a couple of new tracts, including duet with the hardest working man in Hip-hop) has finally left her Warner Bro. label to sign with LiveNation for oodles of money. By the way, LiveNation is trying to rule the world with Ticketmaster.
2. Britney is beyond comeback status and is here to stay even with her mediocre Circus album and her new single 3, which not only booted Jay Sean from Number 1 on the Hot 100, it has made history by being the 15th song to debut at Number 1. Mariah is on that list not twice but trice!
3. Madonna is not slotted on the list of debut singles at Number 1 on the Hot 100.
4. Madonna is old and tired of Warner Bro. so it's okay to release another anthology vs. Britney who is in her twenties and is releasing her second best of - please, girlfriend that is tired!
5. Celebration sounds better than 3; 3 is like a remix of Womanizer.
6. Both toured this year. Yet the Sticky and Sweet tour has made more money than any other tour in history, over $400 mil, well except the Rolling Stones. But she is number 2 with highest grossing tours.
As you can see, Madonna has won, even if it wasn't from the charts this year. Although it's 10 yrs of Britney, there has been more than twice that of Madonna. Also Madonna, Queen of Pop, was born the same year and month as MJJ, The King of Pop; it's as if something was special about that year for the future of popular music. Madonna just refuses to pass her throne to Britney, and who can blame her, even in her old age, Britney can barely hold a candle to this Pop Icon.

I'm Still Waiting
I have Good Girl Gone Bad, but not reloaded (it's hard for me to purchase twice - I'm showing my age) and it was a solid pop album. Miss thang was banging out albums until she finally had crossover success, which to most is translation for having a pop hit. She must have fully recovered from her beat-downs and is now releasing an album Nov 23 '09. Producers love to work with her so I am looking forward to this LP release. The wait has truly just begun, in case her promotion team didn't notice it's still October.

Somebody had to buy tickets
Okay, I know it's mean but someone has to stand up and speak some truth. If you haven't heard, Ms Houston will be touring in England starting April 8th, 2010. I have her new LP and it's good - I'm doing my best to learn the lyrics inside and out since I don't have the cd booklet. Her voice is mature and experienced to say the most. Her last tour in North America was riddled with crack cancellations and a cracked voice. I feel that those Brits love anything that once was amazing, it's like they can always bring the past to the present when it comes to music Icons. This is exactly the reason why Ms Houston is touring there. She knows she will receive a welcomed reception no matter what her recovering crack voice spits out there. I have a funny feeling that I Look To You, has what I like to call studio trickery, and Ms Houston might not have the same sound live. I mean really does anyone want to hear her scratch out I Will Always Love You?

This Is It

The posthumously release of This Is It, is both title track of a 2cd set and a movie, is a sure top 40 hit when released late October 27 (the album) and in theaters October 28. Of course this might all ready be old news to most, however the new information is that this is not the first we have heard of this mid-tempo jam. It was penned in 1983 by MJJ and Paul Anka and a cover was released in 1991 by Safire, a Puerto Rican artist who sings, dances and eats fire. Tell your friends and impress them with your music savvy. The Thriller pic is used here because his new release is mostly live (slightly remixed/redubbed) previosly released recordings AND to date it's MJJ's (and the world's) biggest selling record.
